The School of Hygiene – Mbale is pleased to inform the public that the 4th edition of the Community Environmental Health Sciences (CEHS) Rural Practical Training is currently underway in Nakwasi Subcounty, Butaleja District. The field training officially began on Saturday, 2nd August 2025, and is being led by seasoned facilitators Mr. Wongo Moses and Ms. Neboshi Rose.

This ongoing field training provides students with practical exposure in rural community settings, helping them apply classroom knowledge to real-life public and environmental health challenges. The training aims to enhance students’ ability to engage directly with communities, promote health education, and contribute to sustainable sanitation and hygiene improvements.

So far, students have actively participated in:

  1. Community health education sessions
  2. Household visits and hygiene assessments
  3. Sanitation awareness campaigns
  4. Environmental health data collection activities

This hands-on experience is a critical part of the CEHS training program and aligns with the school’s mission of “Health Promotion” through community engagement.

We applaud the commitment and energy shown by the students, facilitators, and community partners. As the training continues, we remain confident that it will leave a lasting impact on both the learners and the host communities.
