Advanced Diploma Courses (Post Basic courses)
A. Diploma in Health Leadership and Management (DHLM) - 1 year
Course Aim
This program aims to train the next generation Health Leaders and Managers who can effectively managed health resources and effectively provide leadership in all health organisations.
Target Group
This course targets; Health Tutors, Clinical Officers, Health Inspectors, Occupational Therapists, Orthopedic Officers, Physiotherapists, Registered Nurses and Midwives, Registered Comprehensive Nurses, Public Health Dental Officers, Social workers, Community Health Workers, Graduates with basic training related to Community Health, Community and Civic leaders, Managers and Personnel officers, Social Workers, Lecturers of Tertiary Institutions, Teachers and Public Relation Officers.

B. Diploma in Health Promotion and Education (DHPE) - 1 year
Course Aim
This aims to train the next generation of Health Promoters and Educators who support the community diagnosis, planning, implementation, and sensitization of the community on health behaviour change to improve health.
Target Group
This course targets; Health Tutors, Clinical Officers, Health Inspectors, Occupational Therapists, Orthopedic Officers, Physiotherapists, Registered Nurses and Midwives, Registered Comprehensive Nurses, Public Health Dental Officers, Social workers, Community Health Workers, and Graduates with basic training related to Community Health.

Diploma Courses
A. Diploma in Environmental Health Sciences (Dip. EHS) - 2 years (Full-Time/Day Programme)
Course Aim:
This program aims to train the next generation Public Health Inspectors (Assistant Environmental Health Officers) who will play a critical role in the conducting a number of community based comprehensive services which include and are not limited to;- disease surveillance; health education and promotion; outbreak investigation, and control; premises inspection; food safety inspection; water and environmental sanitation management including waste management; environmental health formative and action research; and emergency health services.
Target Groups:
This course targets; A'level students who have done a science combination with Biology and Chemistry such as; BCM, PCB, BCA, and BCG. It also targets; Health Workers like: Health Assistants, Registered Nurses and Midwives, Registered Comprehensive Nurses, and Laboratory Assistants with a Certificate in any of the above two-year medical and health related course.

B. Diploma in Environmental Health Sciences (Dip. EHS) - 2 years (Weekend Programme)
Course Aim:

Certificate Courses
A. Certificate in Environmental Health Sciences (Cert. EHS) - 2 years (Full-Time)
Course Aim:
This program aims to train the next generation Public Health Assistants (Environmental Health Assistants) who will play a critical role in conducting a number of community based comprehensive programmes which include and are not limited to;- disease surveillance; health education and promotion; outbreak investigation, and control; premises inspection; food safety inspection; water and environmental sanitation management including waste management; environmental health formative and action research; and emergency health services.
Target Groups:
This course targets; Applicants with UCE, and Professionals who have a minimum of O'level passes in the five subjects of English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

2 years

Resources
Library
SoHM Library
School of Hygiene-Mbale Library Department welcomes its esteemed users; we are located on 2nd floor of main complex block after the Deputy Principal's office. It offers information basically in Environmental Health basing on the current institution curriculum.
The library has two qualified staff; - Ms. Sabano Betty Hope (Librarian), and Mr. Mafabi Karim - (Library Assistant).
Services:
We offer the following services in the school library:
- User registration
- User orientation/education
- Current awareness
- Charging and discharging of information materials to users
- E-library
- Reference section
- Internet
- Information resource safety
- Conducive reading space
- Users' time is saved access to information resource required
Rules and Regulations:
- Maximum silence and order must be observed while in the library
- All library materials must be officially signed out
- Personal belongings are not allowed in the library i.e. jacket, coats, bags etc.
- Eating, smoking and drinking are not allowed while in the library
- Personal textbooks are not allowed in the library
- Mobile phones must be switched off while in the library
- Each user who delays to bring back beyond the loaned time must be charged overdue fine of shs. 1000/=
- All reserve section books are for reference only and must not signed out
- Renewal of a borrowed book is accepted only and only if no other reader is in need of the same book in question
- Knocking shoes are not allowed in the library
- Decency must be observed
- Personal belongings are at owner's risk and cost
- Books borrowed are not allowed in the library before the due date
- Theft of any library material is a penalty
- In case of loss and misplacement of any library material, the user shall be requested to replace a lost copy
Working hours:
Library is opened from 8.00am – 10.00pm Monday to Friday

Our E-Library provides students and staff with access to a vast collection of digital resources, including e-books, journals, research papers, and multimedia materials related to Environmental Health Sciences and related fields.
The E-Library complements our physical library, giving users 24/7 access to academic resources that support learning, teaching, and research. Users can access these resources both on-campus and remotely through our secure portal.
